This week, over on the Election Central Web site, the main story is the progress that the state of Illinois made in passing its state government budget.

Last Thursday, the state of Illinois passed its budget. Why is this a newsworthy event? Because Illinois hasn’t passed a budget in two years: the longest such stalemate in U.S. history.
